An established fund manager is seeking a Head of Debt to design, launch and lead a new private credit strategy.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to build a platform from the ground up within a well-capitalised and respected investment manager, with full responsibility for strategy development, capital raising, origination and execution.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the debt platform end-to-end, leveraging the broader firm’s brand, investor relationships and infrastructure while building a high-performing private credit business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the private credit investment strategy, including target sectors, risk appetite and return profile
Lead capital raising efforts, working closely with internal distribution teams, institutional investors and capital partners
Establish the operating framework for the debt platform, including investment process, governance, policies and reporting
Originate, structure and execute private credit transactions, with responsibility for overall portfolio construction
Build, lead and mentor a specialist debt investment team
Oversee transaction execution, credit approval and portfolio management
Represent the firm externally with investors, borrowers, advisors and industry participants
Work closely with the broader investment and risk teams to ensure alignment with firm-wide objectives
About You
Senior leadership experience within private credit, real estate debt or structured finance
Demonstrated track record of building and scaling a debt platform or strategy
Proven experience in capital raising across institutional and sophisticated investors
Strong origination capability and deep market relationships
Expertise across credit structuring, execution, portfolio construction and risk management
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams
Strong commercial judgement, investor communication and leadership skills
Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline
